Give Wildly for Giving Tuesday
Every day in Costa Rica, vulnerable sloths are struggling to survive, hit by cars while crossing roads, electrocuted on uninsulated power lines, orphaned by deforestation, or displaced by rapid development. At The Sloth Institute (TSI), our mission is simple yet urgent: to improve and expand the welfare and conservation of sloths through research, education, and direct rescue-to-release work.
This Giving Tuesday, we’re asking you to stand with us. Because together, we can change the future for sloths.
GIVING TUESDAY: $6,000 in 24 Hours
🌍 What Is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday is a global day of generosity, celebrated annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. What began in 2012 as a simple idea, encouraging people to do good, has grown into a worldwide movement that inspires millions to support causes they care about.
On this day, individuals, nonprofits, and communities come together to create a positive impact. It’s a moment to take a break from holiday shopping and instead invest in hope, compassion, and meaningful change.
By supporting TSI on Giving Tuesday, you’re joining a global movement that protects vulnerable wildlife and strengthens conservation efforts around the world.
Why Your Gift Matters
Your support directly powers the work that makes survival possible for both two-fingered and three-fingered sloths, species increasingly at risk as their habitats disappear.
1. Rescue, Rehabilitate & Release Sloths Back to the Wild
Our team responds to emergencies, provides specialized veterinary care, and conducts slow, careful soft‐release programs so that every sloth has the greatest chance at a healthy life in the forest.
2. Conduct Long-Term Scientific Research
TSI’s research deepens global understanding of sloth biology, behavior, and habitat needs—crucial information for future conservation planning.
3. Protect and Reconnect Sloth Habitats
From planting native trees to advising safer infrastructure and wildlife corridors, your donation helps rebuild the pathways sloths rely on to move safely across fragmented landscapes.
4. Educate Local Communities & Visitors
Sharing resources, training guides, and empowering local families helps reduce human–wildlife conflict and keeps sloths safer every day.
Every Donation Makes an Impact
Your Giving Tuesday gift fuels core programs such as:
Food & medical care for orphaned sloths
Telemetry tracking equipment to monitor released sloths
Safe climbing structures for rehabilitation
Habitat restoration and tree-planting initiatives
Research tools that guide global conservation efforts
Whether you give $15, $25, $100, or become a monthly supporter, your impact is real, tangible, and lifesaving.
