What Makes us Different
The Sloth Institute is Not a Sloth Sanctuary
The Sloth Institute (TSI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to sloth rescue, research, and education. Our work focuses on advancing the behavior, health, and welfare of sloths, whether they are in rehabilitation, transitioning to the wild, or living freely in their natural habitat.
Unlike a sanctuary, sloths at TSI are not on display. We prioritize their well-being above all else, which means minimizing human interaction to give them the best chance at a successful, natural life.
If you’re hoping to see sloths during your visit to Costa Rica, we encourage you to experience them the right way, in the wild.
Guests staying at Tulemar Resort can arrange a guided nature walk to observe wild sloths in their natural environment by contacting the concierge team.
