Help us grow the forests sloths depend on

Adopt-a-Tree. Restore a Home.

At The Sloth Institute, we know that protecting sloths means protecting trees. Forests provide sloths with everything they need to survive: food, shelter, safety, and connection to the world around them. But habitat loss continues to threaten their future.

Through our tree nursery program, we are working to restore critical habitat in Costa Rica, one tree at a time.

When you adopt a tree, your donation directly supports reforestation efforts that help create safer, healthier environments for sloths and other wildlife.

Supporting the campaign is simple! When you donate, you are helping fund the care, growth, and planting of trees through The Sloth Institute’s tree nursery program. These trees contribute to long-term habitat restoration efforts that benefit sloths and the ecosystems they call home.

1 Tree is $25.00

Restore habitat for sloths. Each donation moves us closer to that goal and helps strengthen the forests that sloths depend on every day. You can help turn this campaign into real, lasting impact.

Will I receive something after I donate?

Yes. You will receive an adoption certificate for the tree you helped plant.

What does it mean to adopt a tree?

Your donation directly supports our tree nursery and reforestation efforts.

Why is this important for sloths?

Sloths rely on forests for their entire lives.

Trees are their source of food, their shelter from danger, and the pathways they use to move safely through the canopy. Without healthy forests, sloths face increasing risks from habitat fragmentation, human development, and environmental stress.

Reforestation is not symbolic work. It is direct conservation action.

By supporting our nursery program, you are helping grow the habitat sloths need not just to survive, but to thrive.

The Sloth Institute, our mission goes beyond building safe travel routes like our Sloth Speedways (wildlife rope bridges that reconnect fragmented forest). We are also actively engaged in reforestation efforts in Costa Rica, restoring critical habitat for sloths and other arboreal mammals.

In early 2024, we launched the TSI Tree Nursery, a dedicated program focused on growing and planting native trees in areas previously destroyed by agriculture or tourism development. Since then, we’ve already planted 935 native trees, and our goal for 2025 is to plant thousands more to restore sloth habitat and promote biodiversity.

But reforestation for sloths is about more than just planting trees. We carefully select native species that provide essential food sources and shelter specifically for sloths and other tree-dwelling wildlife. Every tree planted is a step toward rebuilding healthy ecosystems and securing a future for sloths in the wild.
