Robin is our lead sloth tracker with tens of thousands of hours observing sloths, she ensures our rehabilitated sloths have a guardian watching over them as they learn to navigate life in the wild.
Robin has worked as a field biologist for over a decade, primarily with various bird species. In 2016, she saw ‘sloths’ and ‘Costa Rica’ in a TSI job posting, and what was supposed to be a six month stint has turned into a cumulative four years of studying wild and released sloths. Robin particularly enjoys the challenge of tracking animals that rely on camouflage for survival via radio telemetry. With tens of thousands of hours observing sloths, she ensures our rehabilitated sloths have a guardian watching over them as they learn to navigate life in the wild.
WHY I LOVE SLOTHS
Sloths keep me returning to TSI because I love how interesting they are. Their reputation for lazing around in the trees belies the true complexity of their lives. Discovering more about their behavior, interactions, biology, and ecology is so cool! Sloths belong in the wild, and it’s wonderful to help them along their journey– there’s so much joy in watching rehabilitated sloths grow and figure out the world around them.
