Meet Sweet Little Pam!
Meet Pam, our Sloth of the Month for November, a sweet, independent three-fingered sloth who is officially returning to the wild TODAY!
Pam’s story began in Manuel Antonio, where she was found orphaned at only about one month old. Too young to survive on her own, she was brought to our partners at Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary. There, she received round-the-clock care until she was strong enough to be transferred to our rescue center in Manuel Antonio, where she continued her rehabilitation.
Like many orphaned sloths, Pam faced emotional and physical challenges after losing her mother. The stress affected her immune system, and she developed a skin infection, but with proper care, patience, and lots of green leafy meals, Pam healed beautifully. She grew into a strong, healthy juvenile ready to take on Sloth School and eventually graduate from our rewilding program.
True to her name (inspired by Pam Beesly from The Office), she has a gentle sweetness paired with surprising independence. Pam has always shown determination, curiosity, and the natural instincts needed for life in the rainforest.
And now… she’s ready. Today, Pam begins her next chapter: a life of freedom in the forests of Manuel Antonio.
We are so proud of her journey and grateful to everyone who supports our rescue, rehab, and release programs, making happy endings like Pam’s possible.
Stay tuned as we continue to track her progress in the wild and cheer her on every step (and slow, graceful climb) of the way!
